Befriend Your Apathy

Sometimes SO many things happen that aren’t right or fair that we get apathetic and try to convince ourselves that nothing even matters. You can wiggle your apathy into initiative by doing some physical activities from the Wiggle Jar! Just scroll down to start your practice.

Your Wiggle Warrior® Practice:

First, do the biggest eye roll you can make and then get your whole body to do it too.

(Really, try it!)

Next, gently pinch around the outside of your ears 6 times.

Next, roll your shoulders from side to side 5 times.

Next, look up and name what you see.

And then to finish, take 5 deep breaths to shrink your apathy to the size of a jellybean.

(Turn on the sound and press play.)

Now ask yourself, “What am I apathetic about? Does someone keep doing something that isn’t right? Does something keep happening that isn’t fair?”

Even though you might feel helpless, you CAN change it. All it takes is a little energy.

Behind apathy is normally a lot of anger and resentment, which both have a ton of energy to help you make a change. Try to get in touch with these feelings and identify what is bothering you. Then figure out what you need to say or do to reset your situation.

You can say:

"I won't do that anymore" or "I've changed my mind."

You will gain courage as you go, so all you have to do is start.

It’s okay to feel apathetic.

Your apathy is here to help you discover what you DON'T want so that you can change your situation and go after the things you actually want and need.

You got this.
