Befriend Your Fear

Sometimes something new or surprising happens and we suddenly feel afraid. You can wiggle your fear into courage by performing physical activities from the Wiggle Jar! Just scroll down to start your practice.

Your Wiggle Warrior® Practice:

First, open your eyes wide and stand tall! What’s one thing you see? One thing you hear? And one thing you feel?

(Really, try it!)

 Next, do 7 Jumping Jills.

Next, use your hands to brush some of the fear off your shoulders.

Next, use your finger to draw a circle on your opposite palm 8 times.

And then to finish, take 5 deep breaths to shrink your fear to the size of a jellybean.

(Turn on the sound and press play.)

Now ask yourself, “Am I in immediate danger or does it just feel like I am?” If you’re in danger, stop reading this and ask a safe adult for help.

If you aren’t in danger, but still feel afraid, take the time to gather more information and plan ahead. If you’re afraid you’re going to fail a test, for example, study and get prepared!

It’s okay to feel afraid.

Fear helps you get focused, energized, and ready to face whatever is next. Fear is here to give you the energy to act. As you face your fear, you will feel more courage and confidence. You got this.
